Another Year

Strangly enough, I found my own blog through a site called spezify.com

I read my last few posts from last year and thought I should make another time capsule like post.

I'm still with Pacific Software Publishing, they hired me on has part time / full time (during school breaks). I keep getting more and more responsibility. I'm now developing full time on two websites and supporting three others. The cool, but my pay hasn't changed from when I was temporary summer help. Thing is, the hours are really flexible and I live just across the street.

My apartment situation now sucks. Shortly after my last post they started construction. My backyard was torn up and a parking lot was put in. Construction has begun every day at 7am for the last year! It's been awful. I wish the location wasn't so damn perfect, I would get the hell out of here.

I working on Saturday and Monday with my game team to start early development on our Digipen Game project. I feels diffrent this time around. I think it's my experince from the previous years. We are carefully side stepping all of the problems we had before by planning had and developing for future functionality. I'm with a new team this year and we seem to work pretty well together.

Monica is amazing. She is supporting the both of use and still we keep paying off credit cards. I've been dragging this debt with us for the past 5 years. Now with both of us working full time in good jobs we can start to climb out of this hole. This really opens up a lot of doors for us if we can
start saving for a house.

To Long

It's been to long so I figured I'd do a quick run down for what happening about a year after my last post.

I finished the first year of Digipen and instead of taking summer classes, I went to Iowa to visit friends. Once I got back to Bellevue I started a job with a Web Development company called Pacific Software Publishing. I'm enjoying the work as one of the most beneficial jobs I've ever had. Even though it's not game programming, it related as far as develpoment and release schedules. It's only a temporary job as I was only hired on for the summer, but being only a freshmen and having 8 months total programming experince under my belt makes this a huge deal for me.

I'm still at the same apartment and I've grown to like my neirboorhood. I'm really just looking forward to school starting again to I can concentrate on what I truely want to do.

Two Weeks In

Two weeks completed at school and so far so good. I've met a few people and hopefully some friends. MAT140 is defiantly going to be the difficult class for me. It is the highest level math I've taken and most of the review information he's covering I've forgotten sense high school. I'm combating this by asking as many other students that will listen for help.

I'm going to try and handle a part time job. I think we'll need the extra money to survive out here. I'm limited by transportation with only my bike. I could figure out the bus system but I'd like to avoid the additional costs. This is my "easy" semester thought, so depending on the demand I might have to quit the job come the more difficult classes. I've done the full time school plus 30 hour job week before, but not at a school like Digipen.

Bioshock is a huge winner, I love all the story elements and plot twists. Metroid Prime 3 is looking to be the best of the FPS Metroids.

Wake Up

I wake up in a strange place. This is not my room. This is not my street. This is not my town.

I find it odd that I'm not at home anymore. Somewhere in my mind has not accepted the fact that this is where I live. This is home now.

Time will pass and these thoughts will fade as they have before.

I am here, for a purpose. This purpose is to important to waste.

Time to wake up and go to school.

Home in Bellevue

I'm here. I survived the trip westward from Iowa and now I'm here in Seattle. Well, Bellevue, the city right by Seattle. There were a few scares during the trip, but nothing terrible to report. We found our apartment and moved in. A few days later my friend Jake flew in for PAX 2007, which was in downtown Seattle.

PAX was pretty awesome, the new location gave the whole event a much larger look. This is no longer a bunch of friends getting togeather, but a huge full scale convention. I was selected to be an omeganaut for the convention contest but the first contest got the better of me. Damn Jenga.

The week after was orientation week at DigiPen, the school I'm now attending. I was pretty excited about attending before, but now I really want to get started. Most of the orientation was just trying to scare those who were not prepared for College. I really hope I can handle it.

I'm getting used to my new home in Bellevue. They have everything I need here, but I'm so far away from home that I'm having to adjust. Being without a full time job means I'll really have to watch my budget again. All of the spending I've done before needs to cut back. Here's to hoping that I can handle it.

Digipen or Bust

I was accepted into Digipen just last month. Oh, I'm also an Omeganaut at the Penny Arcade Expo 2007. I'm moving to Seattle in exactly one week.

I'm trying pretty hard not to flip out.
